Jessica King has been committed to undervalued people and places over her 15+ year career in Community Development in Lancaster & Pittsburgh. She is an entrepreneur within nonprofits – utilizing business tools and resources to seek greater social and environmental returns in the community. She has served as the Executive Director of ASSETS since 2010 and has planned and grown the programs, staff, budget and funding sources substantially. She has won numerous awards for her leadership, served on community development boards in Pittsburgh and Lancaster, serves as a Commissioner on Lancaster Mayor Rick Gray’s Commission to Combat Poverty, and has been named a 2016 Fellow with the Business Alliance for Local Living Economies. Born & raised in Lancaster, she is a graduate of Lancaster Mennonite School and Eastern Mennonite University. She earned an MBA with a focus on the integrated bottom line: Economics, Environment & Social Equity from Bard College and studied Impact Investing at the University of Oxford. She lives in Southeast Lancaster City with her husband and two daughters.
