Aura Little Café: Building Something Small, Creating Something Meaningful

In partnership with Hempfield Technology, ASSETS is building opportunities for entrepreneurs in Central PA, brick by brick.

In Lancaster, small businesses do more than serve customers. They create spaces where people feel seen and connected.

At Aura Little Café, that sense of connection is at the heart of everything. What started as an existing coffee shop has been reimagined into something deeply personal, a place where conversation matters just as much as the coffee. For owner Swezin Toe, building this business was not just about entrepreneurship. It was about creating something that truly felt like her own.

Why She Started

Before opening Aura Little Café, Swezin worked making sushi. While the experience gave her valuable skills, it also showed her what she was missing. She wanted independence. She wanted the freedom to make her own decisions and shape a space that reflected her vision.

Rather than building something large, she chose a different path. Something smaller. Something she could manage on her own. When she found a local coffee shop for sale, she saw the opportunity. She purchased the existing business, Aura Espresso Room, and made the decision to fully reimagine it.

She renamed it Aura Little Café and rebuilt it from the ground up, redesigning the space, reshaping the concept, and creating a café that reflects her vision and identity.

ASSETS’ Role

As Swezin shaped her business, ASSETS provided support in one of the most critical areas for any entrepreneur, understanding the numbers behind the work.

Through that support, she was able to better understand pricing, costs, and day-to-day expenses. That clarity helped her make more confident decisions about her menu and operations. Understanding the numbers behind the business also gave Swezin more confidence in planning for the future.

Looking Ahead

Swezin’s vision for the future is thoughtful and intentional. She hopes to introduce more Burmese-inspired items, sharing a part of her culture through the menu while working within the limits of a small space.

At the same time, her long-term goal is not centered on rapid growth or expansion. Instead, she is focused on creating a certain kind of atmosphere. She wants the café to feel cozy and grounded. A place where people can enjoy their time without pressure. A space that values connection over speed and experience over volume. It is a slower, more intentional approach to business. One that prioritizes relationships and everyday moments.
