A Space to Thrive: How Arcarea Supports Seniors and Their Families

Arcarea Adult Day Center is redefining what it means to age with dignity in Lancaster. More than just a care facility, it is a modern, vibrant space where older adults can thrive through connection and activity, while offering family caregivers the vital support they need to rest and recharge.
Founded by Aracelis Rittenburg, a nurse whose passion for care was shaped by her mother’s example and a strong belief in treating every senior with compassion and respect, Arcarea is the outcome of leading with empathy and a clear vision for change.
Why They Started
The spark for Arcarea began in childhood, when Aracelis would accompany her mother, a caregiver, to work. Those early experiences left a lasting impression and launched her career in healthcare. Over time, she saw major gaps in the system, ranging from under-resourced nursing homes to luxury facilities that felt out of reach for many families. She believed every older adult deserves more than just care, but also comfort and dignity.
Arcarea was created to be that space. A place where older adults with memory loss, cognitive challenges, or physical limitations can feel safe, seen, and empowered to live fully. The center provides personalized programming, nutritious meals, and enriching activities in a setting that feels more like home than a healthcare facility.
ASSETS’ Role
Aracelis participated in the ASSETS Idea Incubator in the lead-up to the 2024 Great Social Enterprise Pitch. While she was not selected as a finalist, the experience was still a turning point. Through the program, she refined her pitch, strengthened her business model, and gained the tools and confidence to pursue other funding opportunities.
That persistence paid off. Aracelis was recently awarded a $50,000 grant from Famous Amos Cookies through their Ingredients for Success Entrepreneurs Initiative. This national recognition reflects both the strength of her vision and the foundation she built during her time with ASSETS. We’re proud to have been part of her journey and look forward to seeing how Arcarea continues to grow its impact in Lancaster and beyond.
Looking Ahead
Arcarea is just getting started. After a persistent three-year search for the right location, the center is now officially open and welcoming participants. Looking ahead, Aracelis plans to expand Arcarea’s impact into new communities while continuing to strengthen the support and connection it offers to families across Lancaster.
