A Year Later: Extra Rice Continues to Grow and Reconnect with Its Roots

In partnership with TCW-GAV, ASSETS is building opportunities for entrepreneurs in Central PA, brick by brick.

Last May, we shared the story of Chef Cromwell Palicte and Extra Rice, a Filipino food truck bringing bold flavor and cultural connection to Central PA.

From the beginning, Extra Rice has been rooted in a desire to share Filipino cuisine in a way that feels authentic and accessible. Over the past year, that mission has remained the same. Extra Rice continues to serve food that reflects culture while creating moments of connection with every customer.

This summer marks a new chapter.

In July, the entire Extra Rice team will travel to the Philippines. The trip is an opportunity to learn new recipes, refine techniques, and reconnect with the traditions that inspire their menu. It is also a chance to rest and reset during the busy food truck season.

Taking time to learn and recharge is part of building something that lasts. For Extra Rice, returning to the Philippines is an investment in the future of the business and the community it serves.

As we celebrate AAPI Heritage Month, stories like Extra Rice remind us that food is more than what is on the plate. It reflects lived experience and the stories behind each dish.
