Celebrating Corey Woods and 5 Years of Soulcialize Catering

February is Black History Month, a time to honor and celebrate the contributions of Black entrepreneurs who are shaping our communities, industries, and local economy. One of those entrepreneurs is Corey Woods, the founder and owner of Soulcialize Catering.
For the past five years, Corey has been serving up authentic Southern soul food while also making a meaningful impact on his community.
Corey’s Entrepreneurial Journey
In 2018, Corey had a vision to bring authentic soul food to Lancaster’s growing culinary scene. With a passion for cooking and the support of ASSETS and mentorship from SCORE, he developed a business plan that laid the foundation for what would become Soulcialize.
By January 2020, Corey turned his dream into reality and officially opened his business at Lancaster Central Market. However, just months later, the world faced an unprecedented challenge—the COVID-19 pandemic. Many small businesses struggled to survive, but Corey’s dedication, adaptability, and community support allowed him to weather the storm and keep his doors open. Today, Soulcialize has become a staple in downtown Lancaster.
Beyond serving food, Corey has made it a priority to give back to the community that has supported him. He has been involved in efforts that provide resources and opportunities for local youth and small business owners.
Looking Ahead
As Soulcialize marks its fifth anniversary, Corey’s story continues to inspire aspiring entrepreneurs. His journey proves that with hard work, passion, and the right support system, small businesses can thrive—even in the face of adversity.
ASSETS, is honored to have been a part of Corey’s entrepreneurial journey and look forward to seeing what the next five years bring for Soulcialize Catering.
