Glam U: Making Prom Dreams Possible for Every Student

The Great Social Enterprise Pitch is made possible thanks to partners like Sharp Shopper.

For Nakeisha Daniels, prom night is a milestone that should make every student feel seen and celebrated. But growing up, Nakeisha couldn’t afford the dress, makeup, or photos that made the night special. She arrived at her own prom in jeans, a moment that stayed with her for years. Now a 2025 Great Social Enterprise Pitch finalist, Nakeisha is on a mission to make prom night a moment of confidence and celebration for every student.

Why She Started
After serving in the U.S. Army and building a 15-year career as a professional makeup artist, Nakeisha realized she could use her skills to ensure no student ever feels invisible on such an important night. Glam U was born to remove financial barriers for underserved youth, offering red carpet-ready prom prep packages that include professional makeup, hair, wardrobe, and photography.

What She’s Building
Glam U is more than a beauty experience. It is a platform for confidence, and self-expression. Founded by Nakeisha and built in collaboration with her daughter Nakayla, Glam U helps students embrace their individuality and feel seen during milestone moments like prom.

Through the GlamBassador Program, they will create space for students to lead. This teen-led sales initiative will give participants the opportunity to fund their own prom experiences while also supporting their peers. It is style with purpose and a pathway to shared success.

ASSETS’ Role
Through the ASSETS Idea Incubator, Nakeisha refined her business model, clarified her mission, and backed it with a sustainable strategy. The mentorship and peer support helped her transform Glam U from an idea into a business with real community impact.

Looking Ahead
Starting in Lancaster, Nakeisha plans to expand Glam U to communities across the country, partnering with schools, launching product lines, and building a network of teens and volunteers who believe in the power of inclusion.
