Unique Lancaster Experiences: Connecting Visitors to Lancaster’s Full Story

Kendra Wolfe, Unique Lancaster Experiences

In partnership with PNC Bank, ASSETS is building opportunities for entrepreneurs in Central PA, brick by brick.

In Lancaster County, tourism often highlights Amish heritage and rural traditions. Kendra Wolfe saw an opportunity to expand the story.

Through Unique Lancaster Experiences, Kendra creates curated tours that highlight BIPOC and women-owned businesses while sharing the deeper cultural history of Lancaster City and the surrounding county. Her work connects visitors to local entrepreneurs, neighborhoods and stories that deserve to be seen and supported.

Why She Started

After years of traveling across the country, Kendra moved to Lancaster during the pandemic. She was working at Water Street Mission and attending Lancaster Bible College, while building a new life for her family in a city where she knew very few people.

What stood out to her was Lancaster’s diversity. The food, the culture and the small businesses woven throughout the city. She recognized that while tourism was strong, many local voices were not fully represented.

Today, Unique Lancaster Experiences offers guided tours and hands-on experiences that highlight the food, culture and history of the region. From walking tours that spotlight local entrepreneurs to interactive cooking classes that bring Lancaster’s flavors to life, Kendra creates spaces where visitors can engage directly with the people and traditions that shape the community.

ASSETS Role

Kendra first connected with ASSETS by attending a finance seminar. She later secured $10,000 in business funding along with an additional $3,000 grant. That funding gave her the capital to launch new tours and build traction in Lancaster’s tourism market.

Her work strengthens Lancaster’s local economy by directing tourism dollars toward small, community-rooted businesses.

Looking Ahead

Kendra continues to develop new tours and experiences throughout Lancaster City and Lancaster County. She recently launched an app-based, self-guided Amish Culture tour that takes participants deeper into the rural communities of the county.

This spring, she plans to release a second app-based tour focused on Lancaster City’s history, churches and markets.

Beyond tours, Kendra is also teaching others how to monetize their hobbies and use the resources already available to them. Her goal is not only to grow her own business, but to help others see what is possible.
