Who’s New on the A-Team: Meet Chelsea Christmas, ASSETS’ Community Engagement Coordinator
ASSETS is pleased to introduce you to a new member of the team. Chelsea Christmas recently joined the A-Team as our Community Engagement Coordinator.
Why did you choose to work at ASSETS? How does ASSETS’ mission align with you?
ASSETS has been a part of helping me succeed as an entrepreneur in so many ways. Owning a business can be challenging but with the support from ASSETS and their programs, I was able to achieve more than I could have on my own.
I chose to work at ASSETS because I want to be a part of helping other entrepreneurs see their potential and providing them with the resources that help them build sustainable businesses.
ASSETS’ mission to see communities thrive through ethical and inclusive business aligns with my purpose and passion to help create equitable solutions, especially for underrepresented communities. As a woman of color, this matters to me and I am happy to be joining a team that strives daily to create a lasting impact on our community.
What’s your background and what superpower are you bringing to your role at ASSETS?
The superpower I bring to my role is my experience as an entrepreneur. Being able to connect with the entrepreneurs at ASSETS through my own lived experience as an entrepreneur will play a key factor in building relationships. I love being able to say “I’ve been in your shoes, let’s figure this out together!”
What hopes and dreams do you have for the future of ASSETS and our community?
I continue to envision a world where entrepreneurs, specifically women and BIPOC are able to navigate the ecosystem without having to think twice about being denied services because of their gender or skin color.
I am hopeful that as we continue to build at ASSETS, entrepreneurs will have access to more equitable solutions that help them succeed in business.
What’s something about ASSETS you wish more people knew about?
We are a community just as much as we are a service!
Tell us about you! (family, things you like to do for fun, favorite trip, favorite food, something people don’t know about you, etc…)
I am a homebody that loves to travel. LOL! I know that doesn’t make sense. While at home I love singing, dancing, enjoying a glass of wine, or listening to a podcast. My favorite podcast to listen to right now is Balanced Black Girl, it’s all about well-being, self-care practices, and self-development. If I am traveling, it’s most likely to a big city because I am a city girl! I also love spending time with family and friends.
